Our Relationship With McDonald's
A long standing partnership
Ronald McDonald House Charities has been McDonald's "charity of choice" for 35 years. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, but McDonald's is our largest corporate donor. A portion of the annual operating costs for the Columbus Ronald McDonald House is graciously funded by McDonald's and owner/operators of local McDonald's restaurants. The remainder of our annual operating income comes from the generosity of individual and corporate donors. But McDonald's involvement extends far beyond monetary support.
Annual Golf Outing - Over two decades ago McDonald's Owner/Operator Joe Mortellaro founded the first Ronald McDonald House Golf Outing. Thanks to his leadership, this tremendous fundraising event has raised over two million dollars.
Partnership with Ohio State University Athletics - As the exclusive Quick Service Restaurant sponsor for Ohio State University's Athletics program, including football, hockey, and men's and women's basketball, McDonald's leverages this partnership to support RMHC of Central Ohio. This relationship has resulted in deeper understanding of RMHC programs, as well as financial benefit from proceeds of events like the OSU Spring Game.
Donation Box Program - McDonald's customers support RMHC through a variety of fundraising events and programs, including donations in RMHC Donation Boxes found in restaurants throughout Central Ohio. In 2010, canisters will provide over $200,000 to our local chapter of RMHC, which is a tremendous boost to our local operating budget.
McHappy Day - McDonald's conducts an annual fundraiser in November called McHappy Day, which boosts awareness and raises tens of thousands of dollars.
Although McDonald's is our largest corporate donor, no company can solely fund RMHC programs and our projected growth. We need the support of the entire community and greatly value any support you can afford to RMHC, whether it's through cash donations, your time or fundraising efforts.
