The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
Delivering hope on wheels
Stories
On Monday, January 24, 2011, the brand new Central Ohio Ronald McDonald Care Mobile pulled in to the parking lot of Weinland Park Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio to provide its very first day of access to medical care for children who need it most. As we pulled around the corner to see the Care Mobile parked in front of the school, it was one of the most heart-warming things I had seen in a long time. The energy on board the Care Mobile was high, and the medical staff members from Nationwide Children's Hospital were all smiles. Final preparations were being wrapped up when the school staff came on board and shared that a few students in the school were ready to be treated. It was go time, a long time in the making.
Less than two years ago, the idea of having a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in Central Ohio was only a dream in the minds of the Board and Staff at RMHC of Central Ohio. Now, thanks to a strong partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities Global and Nationwide Children's Hospital, it is no longer simply a dream. The Care Mobile will visit schools like Weinland Park Elementary School throughout Central and Southeastern Ohio to help kids who aren't able to see a doctor. Together, we will be able to deliver the best pediatric health care in the world to an estimated 4,000 children every year.
We would like to give special thanks to our partners at McDonald's, the Lavin Family, the Cardinal Health Foundation, Huntington, LifeLine Mobile, Molina Healthcare, and CareSource.
